Hello! I am excited to be returning to first grade. This will be my 26th year teaching in Cobb County, and my 20th year at Powers Ferry. I have taught first grade, second grade, Reading Recovery, EIP, third grade, and fourth grade.
I graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and then earned a Master's in Elementary Education from Memphis State University (now University of Memphis). I also have a Specialist's degree in Elementary Education from the University of West Georgia, as well as a reading endorsement, a mentoring endorsement, and an ESOL endorsement (pending). Each year I continue learning through professional development opportunities, and I learn a great deal from my daily interactions with students and fellow teachers.
I have a 13-year-old daughter who will be in 8th grade this year, and we have a little dog named Bentley. I love spending time with family and friends. I love books, coffee, gardening, baking, and traveling.
I cannot wait to meet my new first graders. Meet and Greet will be 5:00 Tuesday, July 30. The first day of school will be Thursday, August 1. It is going to be a great year in 1st grade!
